There are various types of Wood adhesive available. Supex introduces pur technology Wood glue, D4, in India. It is a reactive moisture curing adhesives known for Strong Bonds and Exceptional Heat, Cold and Moisture-Resistance; this makes liquid PUR adhesive an excellent choice for most difficult to bond, low energy substrates and they perform very well in extreme weather environment.
Supex Wood adhesive 7150 PUR Adhesive
PUR Wood glue forms permanent bonds by a chemical reaction with moisture from the substrate or environment.
These “Cold” Liquid PUR adhesives are liquid at room temperature so bonded parts must be pressed together and held during the curing process.
Features & advantages of Supex glue:
- Great for wood, metals, ceramics, most plastics, HPL, Corian, stone and most porous/nonporous materials.
- 100% waterproof adhesive that bonds almost everything.
- Epoxy like strength; no mixing and fast cure time.
- Excellent Sandability.
- 100% solids and solvent free.
- Assembly time after glue application: 20-30 minutes.
- Application temperature: Above 25 C.
Supex Wood Adhesive – Supex 7150
Supex 7150 is a Liquid PUR wood glue that forms strong structural bonds on difficult-to-bond materials. It works well on wood, carpet, foam, metal, and most plastics. Avoid using it on vinyl (PVC), polypropylene, polyethylene, and polyolefins.
This adhesive produces highly durable, elastic bonds that perform across temperature extremes, from -40°C to +150°C. It can be custom-formulated for very high initial tack, a fast set in seconds, or a longer open time of several minutes.
After application, Supex 7150 begins to cross-link and build bond strength. Typically, it achieves 50–80% of its final strength within 3–6 hours, depending on air humidity and substrate moisture. Full curing takes 24–36 hours. Once cured, it forms a thermoset material, maintaining structural integrity under stress.
Supex 1K PUR adhesives are ideal for bonding large areas, such as steel to foamed polystyrene, panels in door manufacturing, garage doors, RV walls, and laminating foil to sheet metal. Spraying or roll coating often provides the best application for large surfaces.
Supex 7150 bonds permanently to solid wood, MDF, particle board, metal, paper, glass, wooden veneer, clear plastics, PVC, and foils. Its versatility, durability, and cost-effectiveness make it ideal for industrial and construction applications.
Moisture cure PUR VS Solvent based adhesive
Polyurethane Adhesives (PUR) should be seriously considered when switching away from a Solvent-based adhesive system. PUR adhesives have numerous advantages over solvent-based adhesives.
Primary advantages of using PUR adhesive
- Reduced cost of the adhesives, on a /Kg. basis.
- NO HAP’s or VOC’s, 100% Solvent Free.
- The elimination of a plant explosion risk; lower insurance costs.
- No more need for air pollution control devices.
- The removal of dryers in the production line.
Supex PUR adhesives are commonly used in the following Applications:
Area Of Use
- For indoor and outdoor use
- Wood against wood
- OSB/chipboard
- Styrofoam, foam rubber
- Metal, etc.

Polyurethane-Based Adhesives; Wood Glue, Marine Adhesive, Pedestal Adhesive
Supex PUR Wood Adhesive bonds almost any material to wood, including ceramic, fabric, glass, metal, and stone. It excels in areas exposed to water, offering strong, durable adhesion. The glue is gentle on delicate or oily surfaces, such as waxed exotic woods like mahogany, without causing damage. Supex 1K PUR wood glue provides high-performance solutions for demanding applications.
In India, it is known as polyurethane wood glue, ship glue, sea glue, profile glue, marine glue, transparent marine glue, yellow glue, yacht glue, or glass fiber sea glue. Globally, it is called wood glue, PU marine adhesive, Aqua Seal PU adhesive, multipurpose PU adhesive, or rapid PU adhesive.
This versatile adhesive ensures reliable bonds, even under moisture or challenging conditions, making it essential for woodworking, marine, and industrial projects.
Benefits of using PUR Wood Glue
- One component adhesive- no mixing required
- Fast cure ( short dry time) – higher productivity
- High strength
- East to apply
- Bond joint is not brittle hence provides better strength and flexibility VS Epoxy adhesive.
Disadvantages of Polyurethane Adhesives
Polyurethane Adhesives are an excellent all-round adhesive that can be used in a wide range of applications. However, there are some scenarios where an alternative adhesive maybe better.
- Polyurethane adhesives are not as strong as an epoxy glue on metal
- They require a tight fit for a strong join. If the adhesive foams or has a gap to fill upon setting, it will be less strong.
- Setting times vary depending on formulation and environmental conditions.
- Limited shelf life – Polyurethane adhesives typically have a shelf-life of between 6 to 12 months.
How to Use D4 PUR Adhesive
Do not use D4 PUR adhesive below +5 °C. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust or grease. At least one substrate should be porous to improve curing. Slightly moistening the surfaces enhances adhesion.
Apply a thin layer of adhesive with a brush to one or both surfaces. Join the parts within 2 minutes and press them together for 15–20 minutes. You can clean uncured adhesive with acetone.
Because it cures with atmospheric moisture, the adhesive’s shelf life is limited once opened. Always keep the bottle tightly closed. Avoid storing above +35 °C or below -10 °C, as extreme temperatures can shorten shelf life.
Pressing time may vary depending on temperature, humidity, and surface porosity. Following these steps ensures strong, reliable bonds every time.
FAQs – Supex 7150 PUR Wood Glue
Is polyurethane glue good for wood?
Yes. Supex 7150 1K PUR glue is highly versatile. Unlike regular wood glue, it bonds wood, stone, metal, ceramic, foam, glass, concrete, and many other materials effectively.
How strong is polyurethane wood glue?
It offers strength similar to PVA glue, with shear and tensile strengths around 3,000–3,500 psi. However, its shorter shelf life, higher cost, and limited working time make standard wood glue more common for many woodworking tasks.
How do you remove 1K PUR glue?
Polyurethane adhesive is tough to remove using traditional methods. Acetone works best to dissolve and remove cured or uncured glue safely.
Is PUR glue toxic?
No. Supex 7150 is solvent-free and does not emit harmful fumes. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and safe to use without extended drying tunnels.
