Product description

Supex 600 – High-Performance MS Polymer Adhesive

Supex 600 delivers strong, flexible, and long-lasting bonds. This MS polymer adhesive eliminates the need for nails, screws, or solvent-based products. As a result, installation becomes faster, cleaner, and more efficient.

Supex 600 uses advanced modified silane polymer technology. Therefore, it combines the best features of silicone and polyurethane adhesives. At the same time, it avoids common issues like shrinkage, corrosion, and loss of flexibility over time.

Advanced MS Polymer Technology

Supex 600 comes as a one-component, moisture-curing adhesive. After application, it cures into a durable and permanently elastic bond. This elasticity allows the adhesive to absorb vibrations, movements, and thermal expansion easily. Consequently, it resists cracking or failure.

Moreover, its solvent-free and non-corrosive formula keeps metals safe. These include aluminium, copper, and steel. Once cured, Supex 600 provides a clean, professional finish.

Strong Adhesion on Multiple Surfaces

Supex 600 bonds excellently to a wide variety of materials. It adheres strongly to metal, glass, rubber, plastic, wood, and stone. In addition, its high initial grab often removes the need for clamping or mechanical fixing. This feature saves significant time and labor during application.

Even under tough conditions, Supex 600 performs reliably. It bonds well on damp surfaces. Furthermore, it seals underwater effectively. Thus, it suits demanding environments perfectly.

Key Benefits of MS Polymer Technology

Supex 600 resists UV rays and harsh weather. Therefore, it performs consistently indoors and outdoors. This makes it ideal for construction, automotive, marine, and general repair tasks. After curing, painters can apply most paints within 24 hours for a seamless look.

Here are the main advantages of MS polymers:

  • Excellent primerless adhesion — Bonds strongly to many substrates (metals, glass, concrete, wood, plastics, aluminum, and more), often without primers or heavy surface preparation.
  • Permanent flexibility and elasticity — Stays highly flexible across wide temperatures, handles joint movement, expansion/contraction, and vibrations without cracking or losing grip.
  • Superior weather and UV resistance — Endures extreme weather, UV exposure, moisture, and temperature changes for lasting durability in outdoor and harsh settings.
  • Solvent-free and low VOC — Avoids solvents for low odor, no shrinkage during cure, reduced environmental impact, and improved indoor air quality (eco-friendly and user-safe).
  • Isocyanate-free — Removes health risks linked to isocyanates (common in PU), safer for users and gentle on skin.
  • Paintable — Works with most water-based or oil-based paints after curing, creates smooth professional finishes (unlike many silicones that reject paint).
  • Adhesion to wet/damp surfaces — Bonds effectively on moist substrates (perfect for outdoor or rainy conditions), where PU or silicone often fail.
  • No bubbling or shrinkage — Moisture-cure process prevents CO₂ bubbles (from isocyanates) and solvent shrinkage, ensures clean and uniform joints.
  • High strength with versatility — Provides strong structural bonds in some versions while keeping elasticity; adaptable for high-strength or flexible needs.
  • Stain and non-yellowing resistance — Avoids staining porous surfaces or yellowing/degrading over time, preserves appearance longer than many options.
  • Low shrinkage and bubble-free cure — Delivers neat, professional results with minimal volume loss and no curing flaws.

FAQs – MS Polymer

What is MS Polymer? MS Polymer (Modified Silane Polymer or Silyl-Modified Polymer) is a hybrid adhesive/sealant. It builds on modified silane polyether technology. This hybrid blends polyurethane’s strong bonding with silicone’s weather/UV resistance, while dodging their downsides. Experts often call it a “next-generation” sealant. Kaneka pioneered this innovation.

How does MS Polymer compare to silicone and polyurethane sealants?

  • Vs. Silicone: MS Polymer adheres better to porous or tricky surfaces (like concrete and wood). It accepts paint easily (silicone often repels it), produces lower odor, and attracts less dust/dirt. Silicone handles extreme heat well but may shrink slightly and needs primers for good adhesion on some materials.
  • Vs. Polyurethane (PU): MS Polymer contains no isocyanates (safer health-wise, no CO₂ bubbling during cure). It stays solvent-free (low VOC, no shrinkage) and bonds to wet surfaces. PU sometimes offers higher structural strength but can yellow, bubble, or demand more preparation. Overall, MS Polymer stands out as the best all-rounder for versatile, long-term performance.

Is MS Polymer safe and environmentally friendly? Yes. Most versions feature solvent-free, isocyanate-free, low-VOC, and low-odor properties. These traits lower health risks (no isocyanate exposure) and enhance indoor air quality. Users often choose it for sensitive places like schools, hospitals, or food areas.

How long does MS Polymer take to cure? It cures through moisture in the air. Skin-over time usually ranges from 10–60 minutes, depending on humidity and temperature. Full cure takes 24–48 hours or longer for thick applications. Higher humidity accelerates curing; low humidity slows it. Most products come in one-part cartridges—no mixing required.

Can you paint over MS Polymer? Yes. Unlike many silicones, MS Polymers accept water-based or oil-based paints fully after curing. This compatibility creates seamless, professional finishes.

Does MS Polymer work on wet or damp surfaces? Yes—this stands as one of its biggest strengths. It bonds reliably to moist substrates, even where PU or silicone typically fail. Therefore, it excels in outdoor or rainy conditions, including in India.

What are the limitations of MS Polymer?

  • Cure time slows or varies in very dry or cold conditions.
  • Maximum temperature resistance falls below pure silicone (usually 120–150°C; unsuitable for extreme heat).
  • Some formulations have higher viscosity, which complicates application or cleanup.
  • Structural strength remains lower than specialized adhesives (often max ~5 MPa).
  • It costs more than basic silicone in certain markets.

For a dependable MS polymer adhesive that offers strength, flexibility, and durability, Supex 600 meets modern bonding and sealing needs effectively.

Application Temperature: +5°C to +45°C

  1. Prepare the surface
Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, dust, or old adhesive. For smooth areas, use masking tape to simplify cleanup after application.

  2. Apply cleaning agent
Wipe the surface with a suitable cleaning agent. Wait 1–2 minutes for it to dry completely before applying the adhesive. Use two separate cloths—one for cleaning, one for adhesive application. (Avoid cross-contamination; the second cloth should be lint-free cotton.)

  3. For sealing applications
Mask the edges around the joint to achieve a clean, professional finish. Apply the sealant evenly, then remove the masking tape before it fully cures.

  4. For bonding applications
Apply the adhesive to one surface and press the parts together firmly. Maintain pressure to ensure full contact and bonding strength. Remove any excess material immediately.
