Product description

Supex 4005: Best Electronics RTV – Neutral Cure Silicone Sealant for Electronics in India

Discover Supex 4005 – Premium Electronics RTV Sealant

You protect sensitive electronics from harsh conditions. Supex 4005 delivers perfect protection. This neutral-cure electronics RTV silicone bonds, seals, and insulates components safely. It avoids corrosion on metals or damage to PCBs. Manufacturers in India use it widely for reliable assemblies. Moreover, it cures into flexible rubber that handles extreme stress. Therefore, it ranks as the top electronics RTV for professional electronic work.

First, understand its strength. Standard RTV silicones often release acids that harm copper or silver. However, Supex 4005 uses neutral alkoxy cure. It releases harmless alcohol instead. As a result, it stays safe on delicate parts and maintains performance long-term.

Key Features of Supex 4005 Electronics RTV

Supex 4005 offers outstanding properties for electronics. Here are the highlights:

  • Neutral-cure (alkoxy) – Non-corrosive; safe for metals, PCBs, and sensors.
  • Wide temperature range – Operates from –50°C to +260°C reliably.
  • Fast skin formation – 5–15 minutes at 25°C and 50% RH.
  • Deep cure – Reaches 2–4 mm in 24 hours; continues deeper over time.
  • High flexibility – >200% elongation at break; absorbs vibration and shocks.
  • Excellent electrical insulation – Dielectric strength ≥15 kV/mm; volume resistivity ≥1.0 × 10¹⁴ Ω·mm.
  • Hardness – Shore A 35–50 for balanced toughness.
  • Tensile strength – ≥1.5 MPa for durable bonds.
  • Weather and UV resistance – Withstands moisture, aging, and outdoor exposure.
  • Thixotropic paste – Applies easily without sagging; colors include white, black, grey.

Additionally, it meets EU REACH and ISO standards. This ensures quality and compliance for Indian industries.

Neutral Cure RTV vs Acetoxy: Why Supex 4005 Wins for Electronics?

Neutral electronics RTV like Supex 4005 outperforms acetoxy types. It prevents corrosion on sensitive electronics. For example, it seals without shorting circuits or degrading contacts. In contrast, acid-cure silicones cause issues on metals. Supex 4005 provides superior insulation and flexibility. Consequently, it reduces failures in vibration-heavy or hot environments.

Engineers select it for reliability. It protects against dust, moisture, and thermal cycling. Plus, its one-part formula cures at room temperature. As a result, it simplifies production and repairs.

Top Applications for Supex 4005

Use Supex 4005 Electronics RTV in these essential areas:

  • PCB and component sealing – Protects circuit boards from moisture and dust.
  • Sensor and instrument potting – Encapsulates sensors and controls securely.
  • LED dome bonding – Fixes and seals LED modules effectively.
  • Power electronics – Bonds and insulates heaters, modules, and assemblies.
  • Automotive and aerospace – Seals vibration-prone electronic parts.
  • Other uses – Gasketing in appliances, marine electronics, or industrial instruments.

It bonds to PCBs, ceramics, plastics, metals, glass, and wires. Therefore, one product handles multiple electronic tasks.

FAQs

What materials and components can Supex 4005 bond/seal?

It adheres excellently to metals (copper, aluminum), PCBs, plastics, glass, ceramics, sensors, LEDs, and most electronic substrates. Ideal for potting, encapsulating, insulating, bonding LED domes, sealing against moisture/dust, and gasketing in appliances, automotive, aerospace, and marine electronics.

How do I apply Supex 4005 Electronics RTV?

Clean surfaces thoroughly (remove dust, oil, grease, rust). Ensure dry conditions. Cut cartridge nozzle and apply even bead or use dispensing needle/gun. Assemble parts before skin forms (5–15 min). Tool if needed. Cure relies on humidity—avoid very dry environments. Seal cartridge tip after use to prevent clogging (use silicone oil if needed).

How long does Supex 4005 take to cure?

Skin forms in 5–15 minutes (at 25°C/50% RH). Tack-free soon after. Full cure depth ~2–4 mm per 24 hours (depends on humidity, temperature, thickness). Allow 24–48 hours for full strength before stressing or exposing to harsh conditions.

Is it electrically insulating and non-corrosive?

Yes—high dielectric strength (≥15 kV/mm), volume resistivity (≥1.0 × 10¹⁴ Ω·mm), dielectric constant ~3.5. Neutral cure ensures no corrosion on metals/PCBs, unlike acid-releasing silicones. Provides vibration/shock absorption with >200% elongation.

Is it safe to use and eco-friendly?

Low odor, non-corrosive, meets EU REACH and ISO standards. Avoid skin/eye contact (wash with soap/water if occurs). Use in ventilated areas. Shelf life ~6 months when stored at +5°C to +25°C.

Any tips for best results with electronics RTV?

  • Always clean surfaces well (isopropyl alcohol recommended).
  • Apply in moderate humidity for optimal cure.
  • Don’t apply too thick (>10 mm depth may slow cure).
  • Test on small area for compatibility.
  • For nozzle clogging, wipe and cap immediately.
  • Store upright in cool, dry place.

Applications

Bonding and sealing of electronic components, circuit boards, semiconductor materials, and sensitive electronic assemblies.
• Waterproofing and sealing of electric heaters, sensors, electronic instruments, and potting of small electronic parts.
• Used as an industrial-grade sealant in automotive, aerospace, and marine manufacturing for vibration-resistant and weather-stable bonding.
• Gasketing, fixing components, and reinforcing joints in various electronic modules.
• Dome bonding and structural adhesion in LED bulbs and lighting applications.

1. Surface Preparation
Ensure the substrate surface is clean, dry, and free from rust, dust, oil, or any contaminants. Proper cleaning improves adhesion and overall bonding performance.

2. Application
Apply Supex 4005 silicone glue directly onto the prepared surface. Dispense an even bead along the bonding area.

3. Curing Process
Supex 4005 cures from the surface inward.
At 25°C and 55% relative humidity, the adhesive cures to a depth of approximately 2–4 mm in 24 hours.
Curing continues deeper over time and may take longer in low-humidity environments, especially for thick or large bonding areas.

Important Notes

Humidity is required for curing. Large bonding areas or low ambient humidity may slow the curing process.
• After use, immediately seal the container to prevent premature curing. If a thin cured layer forms at the nozzle, remove it before the next use—this does not affect product performance.
Avoid skin, eye, and clothing contact.
– If contact occurs, wash skin with soapy water.
– If it enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
• When using a dispensing needle, immerse the needle in silicone oil during breaks to prevent curing and clogging. Remove any cured residue before resuming work.
