1. What is Supex PU 25 PU sealant used for?
Sealing expansion joints, concrete/masonry gaps, prefab buildings, rainwater pipes, gutters, HVAC ducts. Bonding in automotive (bus/truck floors, panels, FRP, roofs), metal/wood/glass joins, vibration control. Ideal for construction, infrastructure, elevators.
2. Is Supex PU 25 paintable?
Yes, Supex PU 25 is fully paintable and sandable after curing
3. Difference between PU sealant and silicone sealant?
PU sealant offers superior mechanical strength, tear resistance, paintability, and adhesion to porous/dissimilar materials (concrete, wood, metal). It excels in high-movement joints and structural bonding. Silicone provides better UV/heat resistance and mold resistance but is usually non-paintable and weaker in tensile strength/abrasion. PU suits construction & automotive; silicone for glazing & wet areas.
4. How long does polyurethane sealant last?
Polyurethane sealant like Supex PU 25 typically lasts 10–20 years in well-designed joints with proper application, surface prep, and moderate exposure. High-quality PU offers durable elasticity and weather resistance for construction/automotive uses, though lifespan shortens (5–10 years) under extreme UV, moisture, or movement stress. Regular inspection extends performance.
5. Can polyurethane sealant be used on wet surfaces?
No, standard polyurethane sealants like Supex PU 25 should not be applied on wet surfaces.
Supex PU Sealants are designed for durable bonding, sealing, and joint protection across automotive and construction industries. They provide excellent adhesion, flexibility, and resistance to vibration, temperature, and weathering.
Automotive Applications
Roof sealing and roof-bottom sealing for mica bonding
Roof gap sealing and side panel bonding
Floor bonding of plywood to steel or composite structures
Dashboard and driver cabin plywood bonding
Front and rear FRP bumper bonding
Battery box and FRP staircase sealing
Skirt panel bonding and cosmetic finishing
Sealing gaps between window frames
Structural bonding between ABS components and metal frames
Construction Applications
Expansion and concrete joint sealing
Precast structure joint sealing
General gap sealing and wall crack repair
Sealing transition joints and movement joints
Filling and sealing gaps between window and door frames and adjoining walls
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or loose particles before applying the PU sealant.
Perform a preliminary compatibility test on the substrates to confirm suitability before full-scale application.
Apply the sealant evenly along the joint. Use masking tape to define clean application lines, and remove the tape before the sealant cures.
Maintain a joint width-to-depth ratio of 2:1 for optimal performance.
Use backing materials (such as backer rods or bond breakers) where joint adjustment is required.
Ensure the sealant adheres only to two surfaces of the joint to allow proper flexibility and movement accommodation.
